Just like with the previous Nissan Skyline GT-R’s, the V-Spec version was a tuned version of the standard R33 GT-R. It was launched in January 1995. The V-spec model weighed some 10 kg (22 lb) more than the standard car, and had sportier suspension resulting in lower ground clearance. The V-spec also featured the ATTESA-ETS Pro revised four- wheel-drive system, which now included an active Limited Slip differential at the rear. The V-spec model also introduced a four-wheel independent-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) to the GT-R range.
At the same time as the release of GT-R V-spec, Nissan also released the limited-edition R33 GT-R V-spec N1 model. This was an R33 V-Spec lightened by removing the ABS, air conditioning, sound system, rear wiper and trunk carpet. It also incorporated a slightly retuned engine. To celebrate Nissan’s 40th anniversary, a rare 4-door version of the R33 was jointly produced by Nismo and Autech; both companies are tuning divisions of Nissan.
