The Series 5 Mazda RX-7 was produced from 1989 to 1992, it featured updated styling and improved engine management over the outgoing Series 4 model. It also had lighter rotors and a higher compression ratio, 9,7:1 for the naturally aspirated model, and 9,0:1 for the turbo version. The Series 5 offered improved reliability and more power – 120kW for the N/A car and 150kW for the turbo model. The S5 turbo RX-7 could sprint to 100kph in 6.5 seconds and when delimited, top out at 230kph. A convertible model was also introduced.
