The R88C was powered by the VRH30, newly developed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The car too had evolved considerably, featuring a longer wheelbase to improve driving ease and Nissan’s original cowl design. It came in 15th overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1988, and it best result in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship (JSPC) was 3rd position.
