Rare Datsun 510 at SI Champs

One of a few new cars spotted at the recent V 4&Rotary South Island Champs was Lydia Abbott’s Datsun 510. A USDM car – not JDM as we’ve come to expect – the 510 is a seriously modified left-hook machine. Imported from the USA, the show/race car features a modified 13B engine with Rotormaster T04B turbocharger and RX-7 5-speed gearbox amongst a whole list of modifications. A huge amount of body work has been put into the 510, too, which explains the tubbed rear guards and the 16×12-inch Simmons wheels that hide beneath them! Let’s hope Lydia takes this car from the show to a track at some point in the future, because this thing is just damn kick ass!
