McLean builds replacement drifter in record time
After totaling his previous R32 Nissan Skyline drifter at Wellington’s Slipway drift facility, Lee McLean, with help from a long list of friends, proceeded to build a new Silvia S15 from scratch during the weeks between the incident and Round 4 of the Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series in Taupo. Although simply getting the car to the event in a competition ready state was an amazing feat, the freshly built S15 was unfortunately a little down on power due to underrated injectors. That combined with the fact that Lee had never driven the car before, meant a poor showing. Lee plans to get the car one hundred per cent sorted for the upcoming final round at Pukekohe, which should give the Taupo local a better chance to get to know his new car.
Lee would like to thank the following people for making this car possible:
Lin Chen, Michael Stack, Steven Sole, Steven Sole Customs, Evan Pittman, Speed Factor Tauranga, Link Electro Systems, Infinity Force Racing, Mark Evans @ Slipstream Performance Bodykits, Autolink paint distributors, PPG paint, Gray Lynskey, Pedey, Seat Warehouse, The Bling Company, Kelford Cams, Racebrakes, Jason and Dan @ Graphixntints, Mad cousin Mark and Sam G.
