How do you claim the title of world’s quickest car? Well, you have to take one of the quickest cars already on the road, you add more power and charge millions for each example.

In the case of the Maxximus G-Force financier David McMahan took the Ultima GTR — which already claims the fastest quarter-mile, 0-100-0, Nürburgring (almost) and Top Gear (unofficial) track times — and dropped in an all-aluminum 7.0-litre Chevy small-block V8 with twin turbochargers to bring the power rating up to 1600 horsepower, calling the resulting monster the Maxximus G-Force. All the grunt drives through a three-speed sequential gearbox, while six-piston AP Racing calipers gripping 14.2-inch discs put the skids on.

Housed in a light-weight frame, the G-Force gets up to 100kph in 2.1 seconds, to 160kph in 4.5 seconds and run the 0-160-0 sprint in 8.8 seconds. The figures are more than impressive but at $3 million amercian bucks a pop and acquired-taste styling there may be very few takers for the Maxximus.
