This weekend, New Zealand meets D1GP with Mad Mike Whiddett at the wheel of his Red Bull Mazda RX-7 at the Okayama International Circuit for his first of three D1GP Japan rounds for 2009. Here, Mike will face off against those responsible for putting drifting on the global map, and will have a chance to make an impact on the Japanese drift scene in his wild quad-rotor-powered RX-7.

By all accounts, we’re told the Japanese won’t know what hit them when the screaming naturally aspirated rotor screams around the Okayama circuit. Check back and we’ll let you know how Mike gets on in his quest for D1GP succes.
