Honda CR-Z – coming soon!

Honda CR-Z production fq

It was back in 2007 when Honda first lifted the wraps on its CR-Z concept hatch at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Then, it was purely a concept. Now, while still technically under the 'concept’ umbrella, it’s as good as ready to roll; straight off the production floor.

Scheduled to show at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, the CR-Z — which somewhat resembles a modern day version of the early late '80s/early '90s Honda CR-X — will be on display as a concept version of the production car. So little is expected to change on the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder CR-Z from now until it reaches production.

Apparently backing the 1.5-litre engine will be a 6-speed manual gearbox — a welcome change from Honda’s CVT auto box. Word on the street is that CR-Z production is very close with production in Japan kicking off as early as March 2010. Roll on a VTEC version of this puppy!
