GAS Celica on its way for Import All-Stars

Against all odds the GAS Celica is on its way from Australia. It’s been packed into the container and will make it for Import All-Stars on 29 March.
To give you some idea of the effort that has been put in by the crew to repair the damage caused by the crash, here’s what had to be done (and how many dollars were spent).
- Complete new front chassis foward of gearbox (made by RJ Race cars in usa and air freighted to aust)
- Complete steering setup
- New suspension components
- New brake lines Complete
- New 3.4 litre engine (had to be prepared and built)
- New sump
- New clutch
- New tyres
- Major work to chassis rails under centre of car
- New bar work at rear of car including new wheelie bars
- Remake carbon drivers seat
- New Door
- New Front nose
- New headers and exhaust
- Replaced complete engine wiring harness
- New wastgate and turbo
- New radiator and remake intercooler
- New water, oil, fuel and intercooler pumps
- Remake all piping for water, fuel and intercooler
- New fuel tank
- 8k of kevlar hoses replaced
- New brake system replace all windows
The total cost of repairs was AU$72,000 excluding labour. Repairs were done over a two-week period utilising 336 man hours, three crew members, 10 to15 hours a day/night full time. At one stage last Friday there were six people working on different parts of the car at the same time.
Repairs to the body including painting: one painter and two body builders repainted the entire car, taking 65 man hours over two days
Total cost of body repairs AU$17,000
Stickers and airbrushing AU$5,000
From the video and pictures of the accident the damage didn’t look too bad, but it obviously was.
