Cover Girl Karma - NZPC 145 01
Name: Karma

Age: 22

Occupation: Receptionist

Hey Karma, from the looks of things this isn’t the first time you’ve been in front of the camera, is it?

Actually, I haven’t really done much modelling at all before. Just a few little bits here and there for 'V’, some bikini comps and stuff like that. I think there is probably only so much you can do in New Zealand if you aren’t six feet tall.

How did you get into doing this sort of work?

No fairytale story there, unfortunately. My hairdresser asked me to do some hair modelling and it just went from there. I really enjoy it though.

Why is that?

Well, realistically, it’s a pretty good way to get paid; it’s a lot of fun. And I’m a girl we like getting our hair and make-up done by professionals. If I tried to do this type of professional make-up on myself I’d probably end up looking like a tranny!

So besides looking good for the camera, what else do you do to pay the rent?

Right now I’m working as a receptionist at an advertising agency in Auckland. My chosen career path was actually as a flight attendant. I did that for a while and loved it, but as it turns out, my ears just weren’t built for it they wouldn’t equalise.

What do you mean by that?

You know when you are climbing or descending in a plane and your ears pop? Mine wouldn’t, and I was told to quit or my eardrums would burst.

Well that sucks I can’t stand that feeling! Would you still be in that job now if it wasn’t for your bung ears?

Absolutely I’m all about the duty free!

How about outside of work what are you into?

Well I bought my own house in the ghetto a couple of years ago. It’s a bit of a do-er up-er, so it takes a lot of my spare time. Otherwise I love the beach, my boyfriend and my dog.

The ghetto? You must stick out like a sore thumb!

Yeah, it’s a bit rough and we do get stared at sometimes. The house got broken into a few times before we even moved in.

I know you have a long-term boyfriend and all that, but how about a little advice? If a guy sees a hot girl in a bar, how should he approach?

Please don’t come up saying something cheesy or seedy. Just try to be friendly, witty and not sleazy.

What is one mistake heaps of guys make?

There are plenty, but going up to a large group of girls is never really a good idea unless you are incredibly confident in your abilities. Otherwise, there is that line between good, amusing drunk, and tipping beer all over my dress drunk. Don’t cross that line.

Good advice! Thanks for your time Karma.
